Grade
Enter your current GPA, completed credits, and at least one new course grade to calculate your updated cumulative GPA.
How it works
- Enter your current cumulative GPA and the credits already completed.
- Add the new courses you want to include, with credits and grades.
- The calculator computes the new term GPA using the same course GPA engine as the main GPA calculator.
- It then combines old quality points and new quality points into one cumulative GPA.
Example calculation
If you have a 3.20 GPA over 60 credits and earn a 3.80 term GPA over 15 new credits, the updated cumulative GPA is (3.20 x 60 + 3.80 x 15) / 75 = 3.32.
What this means
Cumulative GPA is credit-weighted across all graded courses. The more credits you have completed, the harder it is for one term to move the overall number.
FAQ
- What credits should I enter as completed credits?
- Use graded credits that already count toward your current cumulative GPA. Do not include the new courses again in that field.
- Can I use percentages instead of letter grades?
- Yes. Switch the input mode to Percent or 4.0 points if that matches your records better.
- Why does my cumulative GPA barely change?
- A large number of completed credits makes the prior GPA carry more weight than one new term.
- Should pass/fail courses be included?
- Usually no. Pass/fail courses often count for graduation credit but not GPA points.
