FAQ
- Why is A+ the same as A?
- On the standard 4.0 scale, both grades cap at 4.0. A few schools treat A+ as 4.3 — confirm with your registrar if your school does this.
- Where do plus and minus grades come from?
- Most US schools use plus and minus modifiers to distinguish, for example, an 83 (B) from an 89 (B+). Not every school uses them — some report only whole letter grades.
- What about an Incomplete (I)?
- Incomplete grades typically do not factor into GPA until they are replaced with a final letter grade. Specific rules vary by school.
- Does this table apply to college and high school equally?
- Generally yes — both use the 4.0 scale with the same mapping. Individual institutions can use slight variations.
