How to use the easy grader

  1. Enter the total number of questions on the test or quiz.
  2. Choose whether you want to enter wrong answers or correct answers.
  3. Adjust the passing grade and grade scale if your class uses different cutoffs.
  4. Review the score, letter grade, answer counts, pass/fail status, and grade chart.

Formula

Percentage score = correct answers / total questions x 100. If you enter wrong answers, correct answers = total questions - wrong answers.

Example

For a 20-question test with 2 wrong answers, the score is (20 - 2) / 20 x 100 = 90%, which maps to A on the default scale.

Common mistakes

  • Using wrong answers when the input is set to correct answers.
  • Entering a question count of 0, which cannot produce a valid percentage.
  • Using a grade scale that does not match the class or school policy.
  • Forgetting that curves, extra credit, and dropped questions can change the result.
