Common mistakes

  • Entering missed points instead of earned points.
  • Using a total points value of 0, which cannot produce a valid percentage.
  • Assuming this estimate includes curves, dropped questions, or extra credit.

FAQ

How do I calculate a test grade from points?
Divide earned points by total points, then multiply by 100. The calculator also maps the percentage to a letter grade using the selected scale.
Can I use decimals for test points?
Yes. Decimal points such as 18.5 out of 20 are supported when your rubric or gradebook uses partial credit.
Is this the same as the easy grader?
No. The test grade calculator is for point-based tests. Use the easy grader when you want to grade by total questions and wrong or correct answers.
Are test scores uploaded or saved to an account?
No. Calculations run in your browser. GradeTally does not require an account and does not upload student grades.
