Grade Calculator

Calculate a weighted course grade from assignment, quiz, exam, or category scores. The tool normalizes the weights you enter and runs entirely in your browser.

Rows counted

What this means: The calculator normalizes the weights you entered. If your weights add to 80 instead of 100, it still returns the average for the 80% of graded work represented here.

How it works

  1. Enter each graded category or assignment, such as homework, quizzes, exams, or projects.
  2. Type the grade as a percentage and the category weight as a percentage.
  3. The calculator multiplies each grade by its weight, adds the weighted points, then divides by the total weight entered.
  4. If your weights do not add to 100 yet, the result shows the average for the graded work represented by those weights.

Example calculation

If homework is 92 at 30%, quizzes are 84 at 20%, and exams are 88 at 50%, the weighted grade is (92 x 30 + 84 x 20 + 88 x 50) / 100 = 88.4%.

What this means

This is your estimated course average for the categories you entered. It is useful for planning, but your official gradebook may include rounding rules, dropped scores, curves, late penalties, or extra credit.

FAQ

What if my categories do not add to 100?
The calculator normalizes the entered weights. For example, if you enter 80 total weight, it returns the average for that 80% of graded work.
Can I enter individual assignments instead of categories?
Yes. Use each assignment as a row and enter its point or category weight as the weight.
Does this calculate the final exam score I need?
Use the final grade calculator or final exam calculator for that question. This page estimates the current weighted grade.
Is this the same as GPA?
No. This calculator returns a course percentage. GPA converts course grades into grade points and credits.
